Thankfully, the wonders of modern tools have helped us on teeth care, with the innovation of the electric toothbrush.

An electric toothbrush looks like a slightly better version of a normal toothbrush, but when you put in a battery and press a button, it helps you to brush your teeth. Despite the mockery they sometimes attract, however, electric toothbrushes do have a serious purpose: while they don’t really make it much easier to brush your teeth, they certainly do get your teeth a lot cleaner. The electric vibration is much faster than anything you could do by hand, vibrating tens of thousands of times per minute, meaning that dirt and bacteria are much more effectively dislodged from your teeth.

If you’re going to get an electric toothbrush, probably the best kind to get is one with a rechargeable battery. Just like with normal toothbrushes, the heads wear out. While electric toothbrushes obviously don’t require you to buy a whole new toothbrush every few months, you do need to keep buying new heads, otherwise the toothbrush’s effectiveness at cleaning may be dramatically reduced.

If you are already very good at your teeth care, then spending the money on an electric toothbrush may not necessarily be worthwhile for you. If you have trouble getting everything off your teeth when you brush, however, or can never quite bring yourself to brush for as long as you should, then an electric toothbrush can make things much easier for you. It is a nice tool for your teeth care.

If you want to work in the dental field, yet you are not really a “people person” why not consider working in a dental laboratory? While a dental laboratory technician does not work in a dental office, they are an important part of the dental care team. What does a dental  technician do?

A dental laboratory technician must have sure and steady hands in order to create masterpieces of dental ingenuity. A dental laboratory technician’s job is never boring, and skills are challenged on a daily basis. A dental laboratory technician is trained to create full dentures for patients, partial dentures and bridges as well as veneers, crowns and orthodontic appliances and splints.

Dental laboratory technicians pour dental molds using a variety of plasters and stones and are able to carve tooth structures in wax that are then used to create dental bridges and dentures. Dental laboratory technicians are so talented that they are able to easily match tooth color and texture to blend with remaining dental work in a patient’s mouth.

Most dental laboratory technicians must complete at least a two-year program at either a community college or university level dental school. A dental laboratory technician, no matter where they complete their schooling and clinic experience, must take exams administered by the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology. A dental laboratory technician does not usually work directly with a dental patient unless it’s necessary, and if so, they will work under the direction of a licensed dentist. A dental laboratory technician earns a nice salary, which, however, may depend on location.

It is not unusual for an experienced dental laboratory technician, after several years of experience, often opt to open their own dental laboratories.

Missing teeth can cause a change in occlusion, shifting of the teeth, speech impediments, an increased risk for paradontose and a greater chance of tooth decay. Typically, conventional and cantilever fixed bridges imitate shaping of the teeth surrounding a missing tooth.

The dental bridge cost depends on the amount of dental crowns in the restoration, the types of crowns being used and of course, the part of the country that the work is being done in. Cosmetic dentists usually charge per unit. A unit represents one tooth in the restoration, either a false tooth or a dental bridge crown.

The dental bridge cost also relates to the type of crowns being used. A porcelain fused to gold restoration is mildly cheaper. Sometimes there is a medley of crown types in the same restoration.

The dental bridge cost varies from about $ 650 to $ 1,500 per unit depending on the used materials and the part of the country that you live in. Most of restorations involve three units and you have to pay about $2000 to $4500 for one bridge (because you multiple the cost per unit). The more units bring about the more expensive the bridge cost.

Cheap Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a factitious tooth, which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the space left by a missing tooth. Cantilever bridges are applicable when there are teeth on only one side of the open space. If you have a space from a missing tooth, a bridge will be custom made to fill in the space with a false tooth. The false tooth is attached by the bridge to the two other teeth cling the space – bridging them together.

Additionally, spaces from missing teeth can cause your other teeth and your gums to become far more liable to tooth decay and gum disease.

Dental Crowns are generally used in cosmetic dentistry as a form of dental restoration and are fitted over the remaining part of the original tooth or used as a cap for dental implants.

Dental crowns are made of a variety of materials which include:
• porcelain (generally used for front teeth as a straight porcelain crown is very natural looking but they are not as strong as bonded crowns)
• porcelain bonded to metal
• ceramic crowns which have the appearance of porcelain and the strength of bonded so are suitable for any position in the mouth
• Gold Alloy, a very hard wearing crown that is available in gold or white.

As dental crowns are formed in a laboratory to get a crown fitted requires 2 trips to the dentist. The new crown will be fitted 1 – 2 weeks later and will be fixed into place using dental cement.

The life of a crown depends on the level of dental care. Crowns are extremely hard wearing and durable but will not prevent further decay of the original tooth!

The cost of dental crowns is generally covered by dental insurance if they are used for restorative purposes. A single dental crown will cost between $500 and $1,100 depending on restorative requirements and the materials used.

Lingual Braces: These are placed behind the teeth rather than the usual front portion of the teeth and are virtually invisible to others. Only few specially trained professional orthodontists carry out treatment with lingual braces.

Metal Braces: Used for traditional orthodontics treatment. These are very strong and can withstand most types of treatment.
